Urinary tract infection Infection urinaire
The urinary tract is the name given to the group of internal organs that collect, store and remove urine from the body. Le tractus urinaire est le nom donné au groupe des organes internes que recueillir, stocker et éliminer l'urine du corps.
The most common part of the urinary tract to get infection is the bladder. Le plus commun des voies urinaires pour obtenir l'infection est la vessie. Infection here is called cystitis (see separate article). L'infection est appelée ici la cystite (voir article séparé). Cystitis is more common in women than men. It is thought that this is because the tube leading from the bladder to the outside (known as the urethra) is shorter in women than in men. Cystite est plus fréquente chez les femmes que les hommes. Cystitis in men is often associated with infection and inflammation of the prostate gland (prostatitis). A urinary infection that involves the urine collecting system of the kidney is called pyelitis. Une infection urinaire qui implique le système de collecte d'urine du rein est appelé pyelitis. It has usually spread up the tubes that run from the kidneys to the bladder (the ureters). Il a généralement la propagation des tubes qui vont des reins à la vessie (uretères).
When the infection also involves the substance of the kidney, it is called pyelonephritis (see article on Pyelonephritis). Lorsque l'infection implique aussi la substance du rein, elle est appelée pyélonéphrite (voir l'article sur Pyelonephritis).
