Cancer of the bile duct Cancro do ducto biliar

Bile duct cancer is a malignant (cancerous) growth that grows in the bile ducts. Ducto biliar é um cancro maligno (canceroso) que cresce no crescimento dos canais biliares. It is also known as cholangiocarcinoma and is very rare in the UK. É também conhecida como cholangiocarcinoma e é muito raro no Reino Unido.

The bile ducts transfer bile from the liver and gallbladder to the small intestine.  Bile is a greenish-yellow digestive fluid produced by the liver that breaks down the fat in the food we eat.  Together the gallbladder and bile ducts are called the biliary system. Os canais biliares transferência de bílis do fígado e da vesícula biliar para o intestino delgado. Biliar é um amarelo-esverdeada digestivo fluído produzido pelo fígado que decompõe a gordura nos alimentos que comemos. Junto a vesícula biliar e canais biliares são chamados de sistema biliar.

Bile duct cancer that starts inside the liver is known as intrahepatic and is usually treated the same way as liver cancer.  Growths that begin outside the liver are called extrahepatic. Ictericia câncer que começa no interior do fígado é conhecida como intra e geralmente é tratado da mesma forma que os cancro hepático. Crescimentos que começam fora do fígado são chamados extra.
