Cancer of the oesophagus Cancro do esófago

The oesophagus is the medical name for the gullet. O esófago é o nome médico para o esófago. It is part of the digestive system. Faz parte do sistema digestivo. The oesphagus is a long tube that carries food from the throat to the stomach. O oesphagus é um longo tubo que transporta alimentos a partir da garganta para o estômago. The top part of oesophagus lies behind the windpipe (trachea). A parte superior do esófago está por trás do windpipe (traquéia). Cancer happens when some of the cells multiply in an abnormal way, causing a growth called a tumour to form.
