Inquest

Coroners are independent judicial officers. Coroners são magistrados independentes. Coroners are usually lawyers but in some cases they may be doctors. Coroners geralmente são advogados, mas, em alguns casos, eles podem ser médicos. They investigate violent, unnatural or sudden deaths where the cause of death is unknown. The aim of the inquest is to find out, where, when, and how the deceased came to their death and occasionally to find out the identity of the deceased.
