Urinary tract infection Infecção do trato urinário
The urinary tract is the name given to the group of internal organs that collect, store and remove urine from the body. O trato urinário é o nome dado ao grupo dos órgãos internos que coletar, armazenar e eliminar urina do corpo.
The most common part of the urinary tract to get infection is the bladder. O mais comum parte do tracto urinário para obter infecção é a bexiga. Infection here is called cystitis (see separate article). Infecção aqui é chamada cistite (ver artigo separado). Cystitis is more common in women than men. It is thought that this is because the tube leading from the bladder to the outside (known as the urethra) is shorter in women than in men. Cistite é mais comum em mulheres do que homens. Pensa-se que este é porque o tubo que liga a bexiga para o exterior (conhecida como a uretra) é menor nas mulheres do que nos homens.
Cystitis in men is often associated with infection and inflammation of the prostate gland (prostatitis). Cistite em homens é freqüentemente associada com infecção e inflamação da próstata (prostatite). A urinary infection that involves the urine collecting system of the kidney is called pyelitis. Uma infecção urinária que envolve o sistema de recolha de urina do rim é chamada pyelitis. It has usually spread up the tubes that run from the kidneys to the bladder (the ureters). When the infection also involves the substance of the kidney, it is called pyelonephritis (see article on Pyelonephritis). Quando a infecção envolve também a substância do rim, chama-se pielonefrite (ver artigo sobre a pielonefrite).
